Ruth Burink
Hunter-Wolff Gallery in Colorado Springs is proud to present a contemporary collection of original works by local sculptor Ruth Burink. This highly accomplished sculptor lives in Monument, Colorado and exhibits her work nationally and internationally.
Ruth describes her work as "approachable and serene in design, and of the highest quality craftsmanship." She uses different types of stone based on the appeal of color and texture and appropriateness for the particular piece. She also casts in bronze for particular environments and welcomes commissions.
Stone sculpture is an interactive process during which a sculpture develops through exploration of the stone using line and form. Removal of extraneous material layer by layer allows Ruth to explore the stone and reveal rather than dictate the image, thus allowing it to develop naturally and to its full potential.
Whether the sculptural theme is a concept, an individual, or a relationship, Ruth is committed to capturing grace and beauty in the sculpture through sensitive design and meticulous finish work.
Ruth carries a fine arts degree from the University of Texas and is a member of the National Sculpture Society, International Society of Artists, Women's Caucus of Arts (Colorado), Colorado Stone Sculptors, and Texas Society of Sculptors. During her career, she has exhibited in dozens of prestigious shows around the globe and is published in numerous reference materials; i.e., "Guild Sourcebook of Architectural & Interior Art, #18, 19, 20 and 21", "2003 Biennale Internazionale dell'Arte Contemporanea, 4th Edition, Arte Studio, Florence, Italy".
